Beware, spoilers ahead!

After winning 15 straight 1v1 games in Escape Gaming tournaments, TheViper finally lost a game to DauT this week. Currently, TheViper still leads the scoreboard while TaToH and BacT chase after with just one point behind.

For those who would like to watch the games which has a bit of everything, the game 2 of DauT vs TheViper and the game 1 of BacT vs Tim should not be missed. In these games, the thrill rose since the early Feudal Age on multiple places of the map. From micro to macro, solid defense to sharp attack, strategy to execution, you could find the highest skills of Age of Empires II in between.

Next week we will have Nicov vs Tim, Liereryy vs TaToH, BacT vs DauT and Slam vs TheViper. Enjoy the show!

– Thank you to Poledancer for writing the summaries!

Game 1

Map:Baltic
Civilization: TaToH – Magyars
                     Nicov – Magyars

Knowing the situation on water was not in his favour, TaToH quickly walled and upgraded to the Castle Age. Nicov, however, immediately shipped archers and villagers over and soon conquered the enemy’s land with mangonels, knights and monks.

Game 2

Map: Team Island
Civilization: TaToH – Italians
                      Nicov – Italians

Again, similar to game 1, Nicov went for Feudal fire galley rush and sent archers to TaToH’s base while TaToH was upgrading to the Castle Age. But this time, TaToH managed to come back on water and cleaned enemy’s forward building step by step. Nicov resigned after the final navy attack was denied and his economy fell behind as well. .

Game 3

Map: Arabia
Civilization:  TaToH – Celts
                      Nicov – Indians

Nicov’s archers could not do much when TaToH’s resources are in the back and the base was fully walled. After Castle Age, both went for mangonels + monks but Nicov eventually lost due to the weaker economy by staying on one tc compared to TaToH’s four.

Game 1

Map: Baltic
Civilization: BacT – Huns
                     Tim – Huns

Tim put all his military buildings forward along with towers in the Feudal Age which forced BacT to spread his economy to the south. The early archer + skirm rush and the following knight rush was not able to finish BacT, who held the frontline with towers and walls while sending archers via a transport ship to Tim’s base to harass. Knights and cavalry archers from both players fought across the whole map. In the end, it was BacT’s double castle drop behind Tim’s base that finished the game.

Game 2

Map: Migration
Civilization: BacT – Italians
                     Tim –  Malay

The war on water was fairly close throughout the whole game. Tim stayed mostly defensive on water but never really let BacT fully control the situation. On the mainland, Tim shipped his villagers to the central continent at a very early stage. BacT came to the party later but occupied the hill where his castle and trebuchet could keep harassing Tim’s gold. The game ended when Tim lost all relics and access to gold piles.

Game 3

Not played due to lag. Admin win awarded to BacT.

Game 1

Map: Serengeti
Civilization: Liereryy – Teutons
                  Slam – Teutons

Slam walled most of his base even though serengeti is a map known for its wall-unfriendly feature. Both players went for scout rush and switched to knights after the Castle Age. Slam took the victory with more efficient attacks.

Game 2

Map: Arabia
Civilization: Liereryy – Indians
                  Slam – Indians

The Feudal scout rush from both side did not achieve much as both players had already fully walled for a boom into Imperial Age strategy. Slam dropped a forward castle in the early Imperial Age but was not able to hold for long. Then, Liereryy gradually pushed back with Imperial camels, bombard cannons, halberdiers and arbalests and won the game.

Game 3

Map: Migration
Civilization: Liereryy – Italians
                   Slam – Italians

Both players went for fish boom to the Castle Age and advanced to the Imperial Age at 23rd min. However, Liereryy resigned early when he was behind on water and both of the villagers he sent to the central continent were either killed or converted.

Game 1

Map: Highland
Civilization: DauT – Spanish
                  TheViper – Spanish

A very simple story – DauT lost control of the water early and couldn’t stop TheViper’s bossy castle drop + mangonels when his economy was far behind.

Game 2

Map: Arabia
Civilization: DauT – Burmese
                   TheViper – Indians

TheViper accidently killed a boar with the town center. Furthermore, DauT’s tower and Men-At-Arms denied TheViper’s berries and took three villages down. With such a bad start, TheViper still managed to defend fairly well and caused some troubles at DauT’s base with skirmishers,  camels, mangonel and monks. However, DauT had better economy and map control and eventually dominated the whole map with large armies of Arambais.

Game 3

Map: Migration
Civilization: DauT – Italians
                  TheViper – Italians

This is a migration game without migration. The initial islands were at the same side of the mainland, which gave TheViper’s Feudal fire galley rush strategy a big advantage. DauT went for fish boom but his water economy was gone after TheViper’s fire galleys arrived.
DauT eventually surrendered to TheViper’s fire ships when himself was still struggling in the Feudal Age.
