Beware, spoilers ahead!

In this week, TheViper secured his place in the grand final with a 2-1 win over Nicov. DauT and TaToH will fight for the other place in the grand final next week.  Meanwhile, Nicov, BacT and Slam still has chance to fight for the 4th place in this tournament to earn the seed position in the next Escape Gaming tournament.

Among the matches this week, Liereryy and BacT changing units rapidly and made the game 1 really fast-paced and thrilling. If you enjoy watching top players doing Titanic, the “Slam-castle” (was previously “DauT-castle”) in DauT vs. Slam game 3 is a must-see.

Next week we will have the last round of the round robin stage plus miguel vs BacT. Tune in on Sunday 15GMT for more hype!

Game 1

Map: Valley
Civilization: Liereryy – Persians
                  BacT – Persians

Liereryy went for fast Castle while BacT’s Feudal archer+skirmisher rush. Liereryy’s palisade walls bought him some time to make knights and clean his base. Then, BacT switched to camels + monks to defend Liereryy’s knights. Liereryy also quickly added some camels and pikemen to his troop to counter BacT’s defense. Both play switched units very frequently and it was Liereryy’s camels + pikemen + sieges swiping over BacT’s base and sealed the victory. BacT dropped a castle and some towers at Liereryy’s base but it didn’t twist the plot.

Game 2

Map: Migration
Civilization: Liereryy – Italians
                  BacT – Italians

Liereryy advanced to the Feudal Age slightly earlier than BacT and launched the water immediately. At the same time, BacT managed to protect his fishing ships well with just enough fire galleys and boomed to the Imperial Age. Liereryy, with economy quite behind, resigned after BacT advanced to the Imperial Age.

Game 3

Map: Arabia
Civilization: Liereryy – Indians
                  BacT – Malians

BacT lost his scout early but his Men-at-arm still killed two of Liereryy’s villagers due to the front gold position. BacT kept sending range units to harass Liereryy’s base while his own base was already fully walled. Liereryy held the front line with camels + mangonels for a while but it was not enough to stop BacT advancing to the Imperial Age and taking the victory.

Game 1

Map: Golden Pit
Civilization: DauT – Slavs
                  Slam – Slavs

The starting location of both players were unusually close to each other. DauT built a town center in the central gold piles right after advancing to the Castle Age. Slam also dropped his castle and town center in the middle 6 minutes later but never had a chance to take the gold comfortably. The game was finished when DauT secured the central gold with two castles and cleaned Slam’s buildings with a trebuchet.

Game 2

Map: Arabia
Civilization: DauT – Malians
                  Slam – Indians

Again, the starting location of both players were close to each other. After losing two villagers, DauT managed to clean Slam’s towers from the front of his base. The following was ranged units war in the back of DauT’s base, which DauT defended fairly well. After the Castle Age, DauT marched to Slam’s base with knights, elite skirmishers and a mangonel and took all Slam’s camels and elite skirm down with his micro.

Game 3

Map: Gold Rush
Civilization: DauT – Malians
                  Slam – Indians

The central gold piles were much closer to Slam’s base but Slam had a more open map. Slam rushed DauT’s base with archers and skirmishers but his troop died without causing too much trouble for DauT. DauT dropped a town center and controlled the central gold in the early Castle Age. Slam called gg after losing more than 30 villagers for building a castle which was denied at 97%.

Game 1

Map: Baltic
Civilization: miguel – Malay
                  TaToH – Malay

The fight started from the Feudal fire galley war. However, TaToH quickly switched to land when miguel seemed to lead on the water. TaToH pushed into miguel’s base with crossbowmen and sieges and took control of miguel’s gold. Miguel resigned right after TaToH advanced to the Imperial Age with an untouched economy.

Game 2

Map: Migration
Civilization: miguel – Italians
                  TaToH – Italians

Unexpectedly TaToH transported to the middle island very early in the game, before he was even in Feudal age. He built a new dock off to the side of his base where miguel might not find it and sent his fishing ships to gather there. Unfortunately miguel’s first Fire Galleys went right past it and forced the fishing ships to evacuate. Once in Castle age, TaToH denied miguel landing on the mainland with towers and monks, so miguel built a Castle on TaToH’s starting island, only just managing to get it up. While this happened TaToH managed to boom in the center and get to Imperial age. In the end, the game is decided by who can take the most resources, and TaToH clearly wins with more map control.

Game 3

Map: Ghost Lake
Civilization: miguel – Mongols
                  TaToH – Ethiopians

Miguel’s Archer rush is prevented from doing too much damage by TaToH Drush Fast Castling, and fully walling his base. Miguel attempts to break through the walls with some offensive towers but is stymied by TaToH’s counter towers, mangonels and just moving his woodline to a different forest. Throughout Castle age there are Crossbow and Mangonel fights, but TaToH is booming more than miguel, and goes forward with a Castle. In Imperial TaToH quickly destroys miguel’s base with Arbalests, Capped Rams and Trebuchets.

Game 1

Map: Steppe
Civilization: TheViper- Indians
                  Nicov – Indians

Man-at-Arms and Spearmen from TheViper are enough to give him time to wall his base and transition into Archers. Nicov’s Scouts were unable to do any damage, only defend his base from the Man-at-Arms. Nicov advances to Castle age first and quickly starts building up an army of Mangonels and Crossbows, while also booming at home. TheViper tries to take a fight vs Nicovs army and gets flattened by some Mangonel shots and calls GG.

Game 2

Map: Migration
Civilization: TheViper- Italians
                  Nicov – Italians

The battle on the water started from galleys, then evolved into war galleys in the Castle Age. None of the players had really dominated on the water. TheViper landed on the central continent in the early Castle Age while the war on water were still unsettled. Nicov’s first two villagers to the central continent were killed and the second attempt of landing was too late to stop TheViper controlling the central area. Meanwhile, the fire ship from TheViper also pushed Nicov back and landed two barracks on Nicov’s home island to take the victory.

Game 3

Map: Arabia
Civilization: TheViper – Malians
                  Nicov – Mayans

TheViper’s Dark rush arrived Nicov’s base at 7th min and delayed Nicov’s barrack a bit. Nicov advanced to the Castle Age pretty late and this made him struggle in the archer/crossbowmen war between 17th-25th min. TheViper switched to knights and skirmishers after his crossbowmen died to Nicov’s mangonel and skirmishers. Later, Nicov’s plumed archers marched to TheViper’s base but couldn’t do much to counter TheViper’s knights raiding across the whole map. Nicov resigned when TheViper’s knights sneaked into his base through a hole and raided all over his land.
