Beware, spoilers ahead!

ToTaH, the highest ranked player in AoEHD, earned his place in the grand final after defeating DauT with a 2-1 result. Both TaToH and DauT have 15 points on the scoreboard but TaToH advanced due to the head to head result. However, DauT still secured his seeding advantage in the next Escape Gaming tournament along with BacT as the third and fourth place of All-Star League. On the other hand, the third game between miguel and BacT was not played due to personal reasons. BacT received an admin win in this case.

Among the matches this week, BacT demonstrated the “an eye for an eye” strategy perfectly in the game 1 against Slam. Tower rush me? Fine, I’ll rush you even harder. Dropped a castle on my face? Fine, I’ll return even more. Meanwhile, TheViper vs. miguel were also very entertaining though it has a 3-0 score. The game 1 was mainly about the badaboom scenes by siege onagers and in game 3 we could see the excellent prediction and game plan of TheViper and the strong defense from miguel.

Next week will be our grand final TheViper vs. TaToH in a BO9 set. Besides the current map pack and home map pool, we will also see regicide fortress and cenotes. Furthermore, the hidden civ pick can not be repeated, which means the game styles are even more diverse than the round robin stage. Keep in mind the greatest feast of Escape Gaming is coming on next Sunday 15 GMT. Be ready for the hype!

Game 1

Map: Highland
Civilization: Nicov – Koreans
                  Liereryy – Koreans

Liereryy’s second and third dock were up earlier than Nicov’s and his fire galleys quickly dominated the water. Then, Nicov walled his base with palisade walls and boomed to the Castle Age. However, Liereryy’s archers came when Nicov’s villagers went out to build the third town center. The opened palisade wall let Liereryy’s crossbowmen in and killed four villagers. Nicov resigned when Liereryy’s war wagons became unstoppable in the battle field.

Game 2

Map: Arabia
Civilization: Nicov – Indians
                  Liereryy – Malians

Nicov made three scout cavalries to deal with Liereryy’s militia rush and switched to skirmishers to counter the following archers from Liereryy. After advancing to the Castle Age, Nicov slaughtered Liereryy’s crossbowmen in the middle with camels + crossbowmen + skirmishers + mangonels and took the victory.

Game 3

Map: Ghost Lake
Civilization: Nicov – Ethopians
                  Liereryy – Ethopians

Liereryy went for Dark rush + fast Castle but his dark rush army didn’t cause much damage. Nicov, meanwhile, went straight to the Castle Age with his base fully walled. After advancing to the Castle Age, both players made crossbowmen and mangonels and the game turned into a micro war in the middle field. Liereryy gradually pushed to Nicov’s base but couldn’t really hurt Nicov’s economy. Later Nicov switched to elite skirmishers and siege onagers to counter Liereryy’s arbalests. As response, Lierreyy added hussars, elite skirmishers and bombard cannons to his troop. The victory was decided when Nicov lost all the access to gold.

Game 1

Map: Valley
Civilization: BacT – Berbers
                  Slam – Berbers

Slam’s tower rush arrived in BacT’s base very early but was not able to deny BacT’s resources. Meanwhile, BacT also dropped a couple of towers at Slam’s base and harassed Slam’s economy with range units. After advancing to the Castle Age, Slam immediate dropped a castle on BacT’s face and forced BacT to spread out his economy. Slam, however, couldn’t push BacT’s base fast enough while BacT dropped a aggressive castle in his base as revenge. BacT gradually took control of the whole map with better economy and won the game.

Game 2

Map: Arabia
Civilization: BacT – Malians
                  Slam – Huns

The main theme in the long Feudal war is harassing the enemy base with scout cavalry and range units. BacT advanced to the Castle Age earlier and his knights + crossbowmen cleaned Slam’s crossbowmen + elite skirmishers from his base. Slam quickly switched to cavalry archers and knights and dropped a forward castle next to BacT’s town center in the middle of the map. BacT also built a defensive castle to counter Slam’s attack but still lost the central gold due to the quantity of his units. Slam was up to the Imperial Age much earlier and raided BacT’s base with Paladins and cavalry archers. BacT tried to raid Slam’s base with knights but it was not enough to save the situation.

Game 3

Map: Team Island
Civilization: BacT – Italians
                  Slam – Italians

The show started from Feudal fire galley as usual. Slam’s demolition ship worked more efficiently and helped him control the water most of the time during the Castle Age. BacT rebuilt his water economy in the back but Slam landed six barracks and spammed condottiero at BacT’s island. BacT defended with Genoese crossbowmen and castles which last for a while but was not strong enough for a come-back.

Game 1

Map: Highland
Civilization: TheViper – Mongols
                  Miguel  – Mongols

The first dock for both players was exactly opposite each other. The fire galley war began right after advancing to the Feudal Age but both players didn’t invest heavily into the water. Miguel snuck in four archers to TheViper’s base and killed two villagers before the Castle Age. Later, TheViper also sent three knights to miguel’s base but most of Miguel’s woodline and gold were protected by a town center. The knights killed only one villager before they died to camels. The final show was TheViper’s mungadai + trebuchets + siege onagers vs. miguel’s  mungadai + hussars + trebuchets in the middle shallow. It was theViper siege onagers which eventually decided the victory of this game.

Game 2

Map:Arena
Civilization: TheViper – Burmese
                  miguel – Spanish

No fight happened before the Castle Age except TheViper’s scout killed miguel’s. TheViper collected all the relics and broke into miguel’s base with monks and sieges right after advancing to the Castle Age.  Miguel expanded his economy to the north and massed light cavalries + elite skirmishers but this could not stop TheViper domination over the whole map with trebuchet + monks + halberdiers.

Game 3

Map: Ghost Lake
Civilization: TheViper – Indians
                  Miguel – Mayans

Both player went for Dark rush + fast Castle but TheViper was up to the Feudal Age with less villagers. Miguel wasted his militias on a mill when he was busy at walling his base from TheViper’s militia army. TheViper, then, added five villagers for tower rush and denied miguel’s stone wall in the eastern corner. Miguel’s built two defensive castle and made mangonels to take his gold back from TheViper’s towers. Later, TheViper went for elite skirmishers and hussars to counter miguel’s plumed archers and mangonels. Miguel made some trouble for TheViper but eventually lost due to units trading in an inefficient manner.

                  TaToH – Turks

TaToH had an advantage on water most of the time during the game. DauT tried to attack from the land but TaToH had already walled his base with stone walls. Game 3

Map: Team Island
Civililzation: DauT – Italians
                   TaToH – Italians

Again, the fire ship war was pretty even throughout the game.  ToTaH went for fast Imperial strategy this time. He landed four barracks on DauT’s island at 32 min and spammed condottiero all over DauT’s base. DauT also made condottiero to defend but he could not catch TaToH. In the end, Daut resigned when his population was only a bit more than half of TaToH’s.
