Microsoft Sponsor $65,000 Age of Empires Tournament

It’s been 20 years since Age of Empires II hit the shelves and took the world by storm. In 2019 there’s over a million players a month and Microsoft are putting some skin in the game once again by sponsoring large tournaments. Join our Discord Server to discuss this with other community members!

The Escape Champions League, a $65,000 tournament, will have it’s final stage on the last weekend of August (30th, 31st and 1st Sept). It will see the best players in the world travel to Manchester to compete in an epic LAN final in front of a live audience and thousands watching on Twitch. You can watch the tournament as it happens on the EscapeAoE Twitch Page.

Team Secret, AfterMath and Suomi will all have the rare opportunity to play in lag-free conditions as they go head to head over the three days. Expect to see some awesome micro and incredible games as the tournament comes to a close.

The ECL Finals Schedule

The competitive Age of Empires scene is blowing up, with record viewership over the last year. We already saw Hidden Cup 2 and NAC2 break 10,000 concurrent viewers, with Hidden Cup peaking at around 18k. As the game continues to go from strength to strength the community is hoping that Microsoft stay on board and continue to support large tournaments in the future.
